Kerala continues to struggle with a resurgence of the monsoon on Thursday, where the cities are flooded by floods. The country, which faces the worst floods in history, recorded 67 deaths from rains, including 24 on 15 August. In addition, about 20 people died in various parts of the state on Thursday.

Flight operations were suspended at the airport of Kochi until 18 August and many trains on the Thiruvananthapuram-Nagercoil highway were canceled due to floods and landslides. Kochi subway services have been suspended until further notice. The authorities said an alarm was triggered by Sunday, with heavy rains in 12 districts.

From Kasaragod in the north to Thiruvananthapuram in the south, all the rivers are flooded and shutters of 35 dams, including Mullaperiyar, have been opened.
